Graduate Entry for the GFP

Graduate Finance Training Scheme

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Financial Management Development Programme. The programme is an exciting opportunity to develop a rewarding career while working at the heart of government.

Now, more than ever, eyes are on government finance departments as we are being asked to ensure robust financial controls are in place, cut costs, reassess risks, increase transparency and drive performance across our entire business. This is our time. It's an opportunity that is both exciting and challenging. Would you like to be a part of it?

We're looking for bright, ambitious graduates who will become the future leaders of a wide range of key Government departments. A comprehensive training programme will combine tailored job placements at a variety of locations with a three to four year programme of study towards a professional accounting qualification. You'll also have your own personal mentor to guide and advise you, and management training to develop your leadership and communication skills, as well as your ability to think for yourself.

Opportunities are far ranging with the chance to specialise in financial management or internal audit.

To succeed on the programme, you will need to have drive and energy, excellent communication skills, and a 2:2 degree (or predicted) or above by summer 2014.

Please note that the 2013 scheme is now closed.

An example of life as a trainee is outlined in the attached PDF document.
