Finance Capability Swapshop Toolkit

Financial Systems and Processes

The Finance Capability Swapshop is designed to share knowledge and best practice among the cross-Whitehall finance community.

The site aims to facilitate and encourage discussion on financial management issues common to government Departments.

Sound financial management is an integral part of any organisation and especially important when using public funds. Financial management is a fundamental element of good corporate governance and accountability.

Although we have included links to official HM Treasury guidance, the Swapshop is meant to be used as a forum for collaboration and discussion, as opposed to setting out rigid rules and regulations.

We have structured the Finance Capability Swapshop around five key themes of financial management. Please click the links below for useful tools and guidance in each of these areas:

It is important to link the delivery of Departmental Strategic Objectives (DSOs) to the resources required to deliver them. The organisation as a whole has a collective responsibility for financial management, not simply the finance department.
