Government Hundred Group (GHG)

A group comprising the most Senior Finance Professionals across core departments, their Agencies and Arm's Length Bodies has been set up to drive the message to wider parts of government and its associated delivery chains.  Membership of the the group is by invitation from the Head of the GFP.

The main aim of the 'GHG' is to facilitate networking amongst a wider group of Senior Finance Professionals throughout government (i.e. including Agencies and NDPBs as well as central government departments).  It is responsible for:

  • acting as a driver for improving professionalism of the finance community across government
  • educating the wider community (Finance Skills for All; Lovelearning etc)
  • providing a forum for networking, interaction and team building
  • providing a self-help group for sharing ideas/ best practice through the online GFP Community (hosted on the GFP website)
  • providing a forum for identifying and sharing best practice - with Finance Directors (FDs) forming their own self-help groups
  • providing a driver and 'Apiration Zone' for talent going upwards
  • providing career management for Finance Professionals

The 'GHG' is intended to evolve to incorporate the current FD network, although it is anticipated that a smaller group of department FDs will remain to focus on technical accounting matters and future financial reporting requirement.
